Well maintained Drift Eliminators reduce the amount of make-up water needed, extend the life of fan blades and mechanical equipment in the air stream and keeps drift off of adjacent property or structures (i.e. cars in parking lot, electrical grids, etc.). Damage to drift eliminators can be caused by algae, slime, moss, mud accumulation, scale. Objects on the drift eliminators such as boards or work platforms can also restrict airflow. Missing sections of drift eliminators not only cause increase drift, but also induce uneven airflow patterns and loss of cooling tower performance. Make sure the seals at the top of the drift eliminators in crossflow towers are intact, to prevent air bypass.
