Splash Fill Principle of Operation
The principle of operation for splash fill is to maximize water surface to air interface. Instead of sheet surface, splash fills maximize water droplet surface. Splash fills break the water into smaller droplets, continually exposing more water surface to the airflow. In addition, the splash fill allows the water to stay suspended allowing greater time exposure to the air. Historically, splashing fills have been made of wood Lath or other forms of PVC or Polyethylene.
